Celebrate Chinese New Year with magnificent parades in Paris

Like every year, our capital city gets into a festive mood for the Chinese New Year. The Chinese community in France is one of the largest in Europe. Certain districts of Paris bear the imprint of Asian culture: the Temple district, Arts-et-Métiers and the better known Choisy Triangle and Belleville district. As a result, the Chinese New Year, also called the Lunar New Year, has become a key family-friendly event in the City of Light. It will be taking place on 25 January 2020, the first day of the Year of the Metal Rat. A whole slew of parades, traditional performances, lion and dragon dances and many different concerts will be given in several parts of Paris: the Belleville district, the Marais and the 13th arrondissement.

The Lantern Festival, marking the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations, will be held on 8 February 2020. And which animal will be honoured in 2021? Well, beginning on 11 February 2021, the Rat will give way to the Metal Ox.
